When it comes to education, Upson County has the right mixture of primary, secondary, and post-secondary education.   The TUCIDA works closely with the public school system, technical college, and local industries to make sure our employers’ needs are met.

The Thomaston-Upson School System is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and has been recognized for its implementing Promethean Smart Boards, creating school-to-industry programs, and designing student retention initiatives.

Southern Crescent Technical College offers many courses that support business and industry.  In 2011, it opened its Industrial Training Center, complete with labs that teach electrical, machine/tool, and automotive maintenance.  Southern Crescent Technical College will also develop customized training programs that meet specific needs of industry, manufacturing, and business.

Finally, Upson County is surrounded by many fine institutions of higher learning, including Gordon College, Fort Valley State University, UGA-Griffin Campus, and Mercer University, just to name a few.  With so many wonderful colleges and universities in the region, employers will have no trouble finding regional brain power to staff their facilities.
