History
The Thomaston-Upson County Industrial Development
Authority (TUCIDA) was created in 1964
by Georgia law and created for the purpose of expanding and
developing industry in the City of Thomaston and Upson County and
for improving the general welfare of said city and county.
The Authority
shall consist of six (6) members, one of whom shall be the Chairman
of the Board of Commissioners of Roads and Revenue of Upson County,
Georgia, who shall be a member by virtue of his office, one of whom
shall be the Mayor of the City of Thomaston, Georgia, who shall be a
member by virtue of this office, two (2) of whom shall be appointed
by the Board of Commissioners of Roads and Revenue of Upson County
Georgia, and two (2) of whom shall be appointed by the Mayor and
Council of the City of Thomaston, Georgia.
The all
volunteer board members meet on the fourth Monday of every month, at
4:00 pm, in the IDA Office Meeting Room, Suite 230, located in the
City-County Government Complex Office Meeting Room.
Members of the public,
especially business owners and commercial property owners are
encouraged to attend.
The TUCIDA
works closely with state and local development organizations as well
as with the area chamber of commerce. We are a charter member of the
West Central Georgia Joint Development Authority and work in
partnership with the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
The TUCIDA
fulfills its mission primarily by providing taxable and tax-exempt
bond financing opportunities under the auspices of the Development
Authority and Policy Development Incentives.
Thomaston-Upson
County Industrial Development Authority is the lead agency for
industrial recruitment and business expansion in Upson County.
We have and
continue to partner with key local and state agencies and
organizations, which leverage our ability to propel our community
forward.
